The HOCA Practice were invited by the London Borough of Sutton to examine a range of options in terms of current sporting, leisure and recreational activities and to see how best the same might be accommodated.
We carried out an in-depth Feasibility Study incorporating the clients initial briefing information into a number of design options presented for consideration by all stakeholders.
The essence of the project revolved around demolition of the existing pools and re-building new modern competition pool facilities, modernising the existing main Sports Hall in conjunction with the provision of new recreation facilities.
This new facility now includes new Competition Pool Facilities, Viewing Gallery together with a generous Teaching Pool. Extensive Gymnasium facilities are included as are a Multi-Purpose Sport Hall, Dance Studios, Crèche, Meeting Rooms, Spinning Room, Comprehensive Wet & Dry Changing Facilities. Enhanced Storage Facilities, Café and Social Spaces, and a new Community Library.
HOCA functioned as Lead Design Consultant with other Sub-Consultants and led on all design coordination with other Sub-Consultants consisting of: Structural Engineer, Structure & Hydrology Building Services Engineer, BREEAM Advisor, Ecologist, Aboriculturist, Acoustic Engineer, Archaeologist, and Landscape Architect.
Statutory Planning and Building Control Approvals were with the completed project cited for Award Status.
